Google Business Profile (GBP): business.google.com
🛠Part 1: Reclaiming Your Account
If you do not have access to the dashboard, use these specific links to take control:
Request Ownership: business.google.com/add
Search for your business name and address. If it says someone else owns it, click "Request Access". Google will email the current owner; if they don't respond in 3 days, Google may grant you access.
Fix "Permanently Closed" (Temporary): Google Maps
Search for your business, click "Suggest an edit", and select "Reopen". This is a public suggestion and does not require account access, but it is not a permanent fix.
📋 Part 2: Essential Management Links
Once you have access, these are the only URLs you will need for your notes:
Task | Official URL |
Main Dashboard | |
Verification Help | |
Appeal a Suspension | |

🚀 Part 3: Management Best Practices
To ensure your profile stays active and protected from "closed" status errors, follow these steps:
1. Verification is Key
Google often marks businesses as closed if they haven't been verified in a long time.
The Postcard/Video Method: Google may send a code to your google listed address or ask for a live video of your office/signage to prove you are open.
2. Update Your "Core Three"
Once you are in the dashboard, immediately check:
Hours: Ensure they aren't set to "Closed" by mistake.
Phone Number: Ensure it is a direct line to your office.
Website: Link directly to your official homepage.
3. Add Managers
Don't let one person hold the keys.
In the dashboard, go to Profile Settings > Managers.
Add at least two people (using work emails) as "Owners" so you never lose access if an employee leaves.
4. Direct Editing
You no longer need a complex app. If you are logged into the correct Google account, simply search for your business name on Google, and an "Edit Profile" menu will appear directly in the search results.
Note on Security: Google allows the public to "Suggest Edits." To prevent a random person from marking you closed again, check your email weekly. Google sends an alert whenever a change is suggested so you can "Reject" it before it goes live.
