3. Standard Workflow

The typical lifecycle of an asset in Snipe-IT follows these steps:

A. Procurement & Creation

  1. Create a Model: Define the manufacturer and model (e.g., Apple MacBook Pro 14").

  2. Add Asset: Input the serial number, asset tag, purchase date, and cost.

  3. Assign Status: Set to "Ready to Deploy."

B. Deployment (Checkout)

  • Search for the asset and click Checkout.

  • Select a User, Location, or Asset (e.g., checking a monitor out to a specific desk).

  • Optional: Enable EULA Acceptance to require the user to sign/confirm receipt via email.

C. Maintenance & Auditing

  • Auditing: Use a barcode scanner to verify physical presence. The system logs the "Last Audit" date.

  • Maintenance: Log repairs or upgrades under the asset's history.
